14th JTEFS/BBCC international conference, May 12th – 14th, 2016, Konya, TURKEY


The head of the UNESCO/UNITWIN Chair, professor Ilga Salīte and the associate professor from the Center of Sustainable Education Dzintra Iliško took part at organizing and participated in the 14th international Journal of Teacher Education for Sustainability and Baltic and Black Sea Circle Consortium in educational research (BBCC) conference:

“Sustainable Development. Culture. Education" : Innovations and Challenges of Teacher Education for Sustainable Development” which took place on May 12th – 14th, 2016 in Konya, TURKEY.

The hosts of the 14th Conference were Necmettin Erbakan University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education of Konya, Turkey in cooperation with Konya Governership (Turkey), Daugavpils University UNESCO/UNITWIN Chair on Interplay of Tradition and Innovation for ESD , and BBCC virtual Institute of Sustainable Education (ISE) associated with Daugavpils University, Latvia and International Network of Teacher Education Institutions (INTEI) associated with York University, Canada.

There were over 300 of conference participants from Turkey, Australia, India, Latvia, Hungary, Greece, Canada, Romania, Greece, and other countries who contributed to the BBCC network’s international scholarly efforts targeted at exploring current educational practices and their orientation to sustainability.

This conference gathered the educational scientists, administers, councilors, education experts, teachers, graduate students and civil society organizations and representatives from different countries all over the world to share and to discuss theoretical and practical knowledge about sustainable teacher education in the scientific environment.
